Universal Carrier Mk II – Part 1:Introduction

The vehicle

“The Universal Carrier … was one of a family of light armoured tracked vehicles built by Vickers-Armstrongs and other companies.

The vehicle was used widely by British Commonwealth forces during the Second World War. Universal Carriers were usually used for transporting personnel and equipment, mostly support weapons, or as machine gun platforms.” [1]

The kit

Gecko 1/16 kit [2].

I wanted to try a 1/16 scale kit and wanted a Universal Carrier model for my collection – I have a family connection to the real vehicle. Therefore, this particular model seemed promising.

There is a separate kit for the engine, which I will also build [3].
