A39 Tortoise build – Part 1:Introduction

The vehicle

Bovington_a39_Tortoise

I don’t recall seeing this beast on my last visit to Bovington. The vehicle there is in working order – one to catch on my return next summer. Impressively armoured and armed, but ultimately too impractical I guess. It is an assault gun, not a tank or tank destroyer – so, like the German  Sturmtiger or Brummbär.
