SAS Jeep #2 – Part 1:Introduction

The vehicle

“The Special Air Service (SAS) was formed in July 1941 by the ‘Phantom Major’ David Stirling to attack behind enemy lines using small raiding forces… The SAS got their own jeeps at the end of 1942. Until then, they relied on the Long Range Desert Group for transport across the desert.” [1]

The kit

Tamiya 1/35 kit [2].

I think this kit – apart from one or two Matchbox ones – is the first I remember getting. I certainly bought it when I was quite young and not equipped to build it! The box art, the subject, the figures, the instruction manual – all were appealing to me. Now, more than forty years later, I might actually finish it.
