M3 light tank “Stuart” build – Part 1:Introduction

The vehicle

“… the M3 Stuart was sent via lend-lease to the Soviets, with just under 1000 units of the light tank being received… It was not especially liked by the Soviets … Criticism included weak armor and weaponry, narrow tracks not suited to the Russian winter or muddy autumn, and flammable high-octane, non-standard aviation fuel.” [1]

The kit

Tamiya 1/35 kit [2]. I think that this is one ugly tank, with manifest problems. Even so, I am doing this new kit by Tamiya, to add to my growing collection of Allied vehicles sent to the USSR.
