Boulton Paul Defiant Mk I build – Part 3:Painting

Primer: Tamiya “Fine Surface Primer” (light grey) spray can

Base coat: Citadel “Chaos Black” spray and Tamiya XF-1 “Flat Black”.

Details:

  • Rear tyre: Vallejo Panzer Aces “Dark Rubber” 306
  • Rear landing gear: Citadel “Runefang Steel”
  • Propeller tips: Tamiya XF-3 “Flat Yellow”

The paint was protected with a layer of Humbrol Clear gloss varnish, decals applied and then Citadel Purity Seal satin varnish sprayed on.

I didn’t weather it as such, apart from painting the exhaust with Lifecolor rust paints. I guess that it is presented as you would find in a museum.

Since posting this, I’ve noticed that I forgot the wing tip lights. Oh, well! Actually, perhaps they should have been clear parts, like the centre lights.
