BTR-80 build – Part 5:Weathering (wash)

  • These days I like to try out oil paints – in this case, Winsor & Newton “Raw Umber” and Mig Productions 502 Abteilung “Olive Green”  ABT050, “Buff” ABT035 and “German Three-Tone Fading” ABT155. So, after placing small dots of them on the surfaces – with the darker colours concentrated in the recesses and lower hull – I worked them with a moistened flat brush. I wouldn’t say that the end result was staggering, but it introduced a measure of fading and initial streaking effects.
  • Pin wash of entire vehicle with AMMO’s “Dark Brown Wash for Green Vehicles wash” (A.MIG-1005).
