Land Rover WMIK build – Part 4:Weathering

  • Rust (exhaust) – painted with Lifecolor  paints  (UA704, UA703, UA702, UA701).
  • Chipping – Vallejo Model Color “German Camouflage Black Brown” (70822) applied by sponge and brush, using these photographs as a guide.
  • Wash – pin wash with AK Interactive “OIF and OEF wash” (AK121).
  • Dust – a mixture of Tamiya acrylic XF-55 “Deck Tan” in Tamiya X-20A thinner (10% paint mixture in thinner) was sprayed on the wheels and lower parts of the vehicle.
  • Metal – the guns were rubbed with AK Interactive “Dark Steel” pigment (AK086).
  • Soot – the soot powder from Tamiya Weathering Master Set B was added to the end of the exhaust.
  • Fuel stains – AK Interactive “Fuel Stains” (AK025), diluted with white spirit, was added to the petrol filler area.
