Hawker Hurricane Mk I build – Part 3:Painting

Primer: Tamiya “Fine Surface Primer” (light grey) spray can

Base coat (lower wing and fuselage): A mixture of 90% Tamiya XF-21 “Sky” and 10% Tamiya X-22 Clear in Tamiya X-20A thinner (2:1 paint mixture to thinner).

Base coat (upper wing and fuselage): A camouflage pattern of  Tamiya XF-72 “Brown” [90% paint and 10% Tamiya X-22 Clear in Tamiya X-20A thinner (2:1 paint mixture to thinner)]  and Tamiya XF-61 “Dark Green” [90% paint and 10% Tamiya X-22 Clear in Tamiya X-20A thinner (2:1 paint mixture to thinner)] .

Details (landing gear): Games Workshop “Boltgun Metal”

Details (tyres): Vallejo Model Color “Black” 70950

Details (exhaust): Lifecolor rust paints

Details (lights – non-clear parts): Games Workshop “Mithril silver”

Details (propeller): A mixture of 90% Tamiya XF-1 “Flat Black” and 10% Tamiya X-22 Clear in Tamiya X-20A thinner (2:1 paint mixture to thinner).

The paint was protected with a layer of Humbrol Clear gloss varnish and then Citadel Purity Seal satin varnish.
