The vehicle

“The British Army’s long wheelbase (LWB) Land Rovers … evolving from Series models to the Defender 110 and the purpose-built Wolf (XD 110), featuring ruggedized chassis, 300TDi engines, and heavy-duty components for roles from general transport to battlefield ambulances and special forces support, serving as workhorses before modern replacements.” [1]
The kit

Airfix 1/76 (“OO” gauge”) kit [2].
Assembly
Firstly I painted and weathered the interior – using the paints shown in the images above. I added some 1/72 stowage items to the load area. Then the windows were masked and the top fixed in place.
Painting
The NATO Green was sprayed on and other paints applied, as shown above. The decals were then applied.
Weathering
Weathered with a dark wash, the exhaust painted with rust colours and dirt and grime simulated with oil paints, mostly on the lower half.
The base
A layer of modelling clay was added to back of the wooden base. A length of stone wall – of “OO” gauge – was pressed into it, to create a location for it to be glued. Once dry, AK Interactive “Neutral Texture for Earth” (AK8023) was applied to the foreground. This was sanded back to a degree when dry and then various brown paints brushed on to create a layer for earth pigments to be glued on, using white PVA glue. The stone wall was then painted with various colours and weather with oil paints. I flicked diluted brown oil paint from a brush to create darker patches on the ground . After this, 1mm static “summer” grass was added to the ground. Following this, white PVA glue was applied to the area running along the wall and 2mm static “summer” grass added. Finally, 1mm and 2mm summer tufts were glued in various locations.
