Alvis Stalwart Mk 2 – Part 3:Painting

Primer: Mr.Surfacer 500, sprayed in a 1:1 mixture in Mr.Color levelling thinner.

Base coat: AK Interactive Real Colours “NATO Green” (RC886) was sprayed as a 1:2 mixture in Mr.Color leveling thinner. Camouflage stripes were sprayed using AK Interactive Real Colours “NATO Black” (RC888) in a 1:2 mixture in Mr.Color levelling thinner.

Details:

  • Wheels: AK Interactive Real Colours “Rubber Black” (RC305) and “Flat Black” (RC804), in a 1:1 mixture and diluted in a 1:2 ratio in Mr.Color leveling thinner. I find the “Rubber Black” spray paint too light, hence the reason for darkening with “Flat Black”.
  • Tools: AK Interactive Real Colours Marker “Wood Base” (RCM012) and “Flat Black” (RCM033). Metal parts drybrushed with AMMO “Gun Metal” (A.MIG-0622).
  • Fire extinguishers: AK Interactive Real Colours Marker “IJA AO Midori Iro” (RCM030)
  • Headlights/side lights: AK Interactive Real Colours Marker “Aluminium” (RCM010).
  • Back lights/reflectors: AK Interactive Real Colours Marker “Signal Red” (RCM003).
  • Indicator lights: Tamiya “Clear Orange” (X-26)

A 1:2 mixture of Mr.Color “Clear Gloss” (46) and Mr.Color Leveling Thinner was sprayed over the entire model. Decals were applied and a further layer of gloss.
