It’s no secret that I am a big fan of the Alien series, or at least the first three films, and the more recent Alien Romulus. The others, not so much. Anyway, as such, I am always on the look out for interesting models of the subject.
This time I have had a go at the 3D print – from a company called LV426 Designs – of the Ash-lookalike android called “Rook” from Alien Romulus. Anyone who has seen that film will know that when we see him he is less than whole – due to an encounter with the alien – and propped up on the console desk. It is a lovely item and I painted it as best I could from the film version. I used image grabs from this page – https://forresthogg.com/project/alien-romulus-ui – to prepare screens and scaled them down to fit in the printed parts. They look nice from a reasonable distance. Finally, I flicked white oil paint – mixed with gloss and thinner – onto the body and desk, to simulate android blood.
I have previously done the “Offspring” creature – of the same film and got from the same maker – and show it in the final image, as a companion to the piece under current discussion.
