SAS Jeep #3 – Part 3:Painting

Primer: Tamiya “Fine Surface Primer” (light grey) spray can.

Base coat: AK Interactive Real Colours “SCC No.15 Olive Drab” (RC875) was sprayed as a 1:2 mixture in Mr.Color leveling thinner.

Details:

  • Wheels: AK Interactive “Rubber Black” (11027).
  • Chairs: AK Interactive Real Colors Markers “Interior Green” (RCM022), drybrushed with with AMMO “Light Olive Green” (A.MIG-0608).
  • Guns: AK Interactive “Black” (AK11029), drybrushed with AMMO “Gun Metal” (A.MIG-0622). Ammunition drum handle painted with AK Interactive Real Color Markers “Dunkelgelb” (RCM018).
  • Headlights: AK Interactive Real Color Markers “Aluminium” (RCM010).
  • Tools: AK Interactive Real Color Markers “Wood Base” (RCM012) and “Rubber Black” (RCM001). Metal parts drybrushed with AMMO “Gun Metal” (A.MIG-0622).
  • Back lights//reflectors: AK Interactive Real Colors Markers “Signal Red” (RCM003).

A 1:2 mixture of Mr.Color “Clear Gloss” (46) and Mr.Color Leveling Thinner was sprayed over the entire model.

I have got to use the AK Interactive Real Colors Markers for a few weeks now and I find them really useful for smaller items. The time saved by not mixing up small quantities of acrylic paint and then using a fine brush – e.g for headlights – is measurable. I could see them being great for the fine detail in an aircraft cockpit, just as much as I have found them for these Jeep interiors. My favourite new product in years…
