Challenger 2 build – Part 3:Painting

Primer: Tamiya “Fine Surface Primer” (light grey) spray can.

Basecoat: I used the same mixture as I did for Challenger 1. It’s a bit more fussy than I would normally use but I thought it best to be consistent.

A 1:2 mixture of Tamiya acrylics (XF-59 “Desert Yellow”, XF-57 “Buff”, XF-19 “Sky Grey” in a 4:1:1 ratio) and Mr.Color Levelling Thinner was sprayed. After that a similar mixture was used on the upper parts, this time with XF-59:XF-57:XF-19 in a 3:2:1 ratio, to lighten it a bit.

I am not sure how accurate this all is but it doesn’t bother me too much. Weathering always changes the look afterwards and my photos seem to show variations in colour.

Details: Paints as shown in the image.
