Primer: Tamiya “Fine Surface Primer” (light grey) spray can
Black base: A 1:2 mixture of Mr.Finishing Surfacer 1500 Black and Mr.Color Leveling Thinner was sprayed all over.
Basecoat: A 1:1:1:1 mixture of Mr.Color “Olive Green” (120), Mr.Color “Olive Drab (2)” (38), Mr.Color “Sand Yellow” (119), Mr.Color “Character White” (107) in Mr.Color Leveling Thinner (1:2 ratio of paint mixture to thinner) was sprayed.
Initial chipping: Because I was going to whitewash the tank, I decided to add some chips to the underlying base coat, using Lifecolor “4BG Light Khaki” (UA240) and Vallejo Model Color “German Camouflage Black Brown” (70822). In retrospect I don’t think that many of these show through the whitewash, but, I know that they’re there!
Whitewash: AK Interactive “Worn Effects” (AK088) was sprayed over the tank into two coats, 30 minutes apart. After another 30 minutes, Tamiya “Flat White” (XF-2) in Mr.Color Leveling Thinner in a 1:2 ratio was sprayed. Another 30 minutes later, the whitewash was selectively removed using a stiff brush or tweezers.
