KV-2 build – Part 10:Weathering (oil, fuel and other stains)

  • Various liquid stains on the hull and turret were simulated using dilute mixtures of AMMO “Fresh Engine Oil” (A.MIG-1408) or AMMO “Fuel Stains” (A.MIG-1409) in white spirit, flicked from the end of a brush. It is fairly subtle looking, but I like to break up the uniformity of the dust and dirt.
  • Oil stains on the wheels and turret ring were done using AMMO “Fresh Engine Oil” (A.MIG-1408) in various dilutions in white spirit.
  • The turret and hull machine gun and the steel wheels were treated with AK Interactive “Dark Steel” (AK086).
  • Soot from the exhausts was simulated using Tamiya “Soot” weathering powder and Vallejo “Carbon Black” (73116) pigment.
